The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (“the PSI”) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (“the PSNI”) recently signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (“the MoU”). The scope of the MoU is intended to provide a framework to assist the joint working of both organisations so that they can continue to collaborate effectively and ensure maximum efficiency and public health benefit as they carry out their similar public and statutory functions in neighbouring jurisdictions.
The formal collaborative approach in the MoU includes:
Jointly co-operating and collaborating where suitable in the execution of enforcement functions.
Co-operating as far as possible to ensure that both organisations share pertinent regulatory information in a timely manner.
Working together to promote public health and safety in relation to engagement with pharmacists and sharing information in the provision of guidance and the development of pharmacy practice.
Establishing close working relationships designed to minimise the impacts of Brexit on patients and services.
