Commission on the Future Policing in Ireland
In another policing-related development, the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald recently announced the final terms of reference and the membership of the Commission on the Future Policing in Ireland.
The stated aim of the Commission is to carry out a fundamental review of the role, structure, leadership, management, ethos and culture of policing in Ireland and the existing oversight arrangements.
The Commission is required to bring forward proposals and recommendations and submit a final report in September 2018. The Department of Justice’s press release in relation to the announcement can be found here.
