Recent high profile ticketing outrage prompts formal Investigation into potential anti-competitive behaviour in the ticketing sector

An investigation regarding the suspected breach of competition law has been launched by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (the “CCPC”). The investigation is focusing on promoters, venues, ticketing services or other parties involved in the sale of tickets for live events.  The CCPC is concerned that the above parties may be participating in anti-competitive behaviour and is calling on those in this sector who may have information that could potentially be ... An investigation regarding the suspected breach of competition law has been launched by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (the “CCPC”). The investigation is focusing on promoters, venues, ticketing services or other parties involved in the sale of tickets for live events.  The CCPC is concerned that the above parties may be participating in anti-competitive behaviour and is calling on those in this sector who may have information that could potentially be relevant to the investigation to contact the CCPC. So far, the CCPC has issued witness summonses for information as part of the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
