The Central Bank has released a Consultation Paper on the handling of protected disclosures, arising from the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013 (the “Act”). The Act provides for the making of disclosures in good faith to the Central Bank in relation to alleged breaches of financial services legislation, which under the Act are protected disclosures. The Consultation Paper provides information on the new arrangements to be put in place by the Central Bank in relation to the handling of protected disclosures. These new arrangements include the establishment of a 'Whistleblower Desk' to receive and manage disclosures from persons who wish to make protected disclosures. In publishing the Consultation Paper, the Central Bank seeks views from stakeholders and the public in relation to the arrangements it intends to put in place in response to the legislation. Submissions may be made electronically or by post on or before 19th June 2014.
