Car accident claim ended with 6-figure compensation
The car accident happened when 53-year-old Debbie was driving her and her husband home from the cinema near Basildon on an evening in October. Debbie had just driven through a green traffic light when a Mercedes ploughed into the nearside of her car. The driver later admitted he had misjudged the lights but decided not to stop at the red light. He received a £100 fine and three penalty points.
Both Debbie and her husband were injured, with Debbie suffering multiple orthopaedic injuries. She was unconscious for approximately 10 minutes at the scene. She was taken to the Royal London Hospital with fractures to her ribs and spine, damage to her knee and head. She did not require surgery and was sent home after six days.
Jennifer was instructed in November and worked collaboratively with the insurer under the Rehabilitation Code. The appointed case manager did not initially recommend a neurology review. As Debbie had been rendered unconscious at the scene, Jennifer had a discussion with the case manager and insurer, resulting in agreement by all for Debbie to have a neurology review funded by the insurer. This resulted in a diagnosis of a mild traumatic brain injury.
By the following spring, Debbie reported no outstanding sequelae of the accident, and her treating team, including her neurologist, concluded her rehabilitation and gave her a positive prognosis.
Debbie's car accident case settled for £135,000.
