The brain damage that our client suffered had meant that Rojinda was minimally conscious for some time. The offer through the NHS was to place her in a care home.
We decided to seek the advice of a neurologist specialising in neurorehabilitation, Richard Greenwood. Dr Greenwood advised that intensive rehabilitation could help and our client was moved to the Wellington Hospital. Over many months she began to slowly improve.
Whilst Rojinda requires a high level of care she is able to access the community and has recovered well enough to speak with her family in India and has a relatively good quality of life.
While physically Rojinda cannot stand, she is now able to sing, laugh and joke; unthinkable when this accident had happened. Her recovery has been due to an intensive rehabilitation regime in which she had a full complement of experts working with her.
Throughout the case the Defendants had disagreed with the rehabilitation regime that we had put in place. Despite this, the evidence proved that the rehabilitation was having a dramatically positive effect and a real impact on our client’s recovery.
