Our client was on a trip to Ireland when he suffered significant leg and shoulder injuries, including an amputation, after he was the victim of a road traffic accident. The Defendant driver was seemingly overtaking a bus on the wrong side of the road, and then collided with our client at high speed.

The Defendant, who was also a motorcyclist, did not have any insurance and therefore the claim had to be pursued via the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB). Fieldfisher were instructed several years after the accident, as the client was unhappy with the progress being made by their previous solicitors.

When Fieldfisher had taken over the case, our client had received very little in the way of rehabilitation; their leg was in a poor condition and they were in completely unsuitable housing. He was unable to take part in outdoor activities with his young son and he relied heavily on his wife for support.

When Fieldfisher took over conduct for the case, we pressed for a quick resolution. The claim was to be litigated in Ireland and so we instructed Irish agents who were able to bring the case to a successful conclusion, recovering a seven figure sum. Our client now has a much better quality leg, new housing and a significantly improved quality of life.
