Asbestos team pleased to support Mesothelioma UK's Webinar Series

On 30th November, from 4pm, Mesothelioma UK begins what will undoubtedly be a very successful and informative new series.

The Mesothelioma Matters Webinars will run monthly and each time cover an important topic in the fight against asbestos and asbestos-related diseases.

This month the focus is on new research into gold nanotubes, conducted at Cambridge and Leeds Universities. Gold nanotubes contain physical properties they describe as ‘tunable’, which means that they can tailor the wall thickness, microstructure, composition and ability to absorb particular wavelengths of light.

The study suggests that once inside the cancer cells, the nanotubes – tiny hollow cylinders one thousandth of the width of a human hair – absorb light, causing them to heat up and thereby killing the mesothelioma cells.
