Following a court hearing on behalf of our client Jasbir Sahota, the Telegraph reported condemnation by Mrs Justic Yip of delays in progressing the claim due to failures to disclose vital documents by the defendant.
Mrs Justice Yip said: “I find it almost impossible to understand the approach taken by the defendant and the defendant’s solicitors.”
Jasbir Sahota suffered catastrophic injuries after being pulled into a baggage handling belt at Heathrow airport in February 2024. Ever since, her family, supported by Fieldfisher, has been fighting for funds from her employer, Menzies, to enable a move to the specialist neuro-rehabilitation centre at the private Wellington Hospital.
Meanwhile, Mrs Sahota, who her family say is beginning to respond to them, faces a ceiling of care by her current NHS hospital, including a Do Not Resuscitate order.
Fieldfisher solicitors claim that the global aviation company has delayed proceedings by failing to reveal crucial evidence regarding an earlier safety incident at Gatwick airport and subsequent investigations into them.
Jill Greenfield told the Telegraph: 'We have pushed hard to get Jasbir’s case heard in court as quickly as possible because there have been unnecessary delays in getting to the facts behind the circumstances of this accident. Meanwhile, her life is in a precarious state.
“Time is absolutely crucial in getting Jasbir specialist neuro treatment, not least since her current hospital has implemented a ceiling of care above which they can’t treat her.”
A trial is expected to take place in May next year but the judge encouraged the parties to negotiate settlement.
