Arti Shah of Fieldfisher represents the family of Bobby Goddard, whos tragic story features in this Sunday's article. Bobby sadly died 2 days after birth following a series of failings in both midwifery and obstetric care. An Inquest found that these had contributed to Bobby's death, firstly by wrongly classifying his mother, Kate, as "low risk" and not investigating gestational diabetes, but then by also not acting quickly enough to deliver her on admission to hospital. His parents have moved away from Lincoln but continue to live with the devastating consequences every day.
Arti commented:
"I am pleased to see the Sunday Times highlighting the very real issue of better care being able to prevent a substantial number of deaths and am whole-heartedly behind their campaign to raise awareness. This is a heart-rending case where there were a number of missed opportunities to monitor Kate during her pregnancy and at hospital. It is vital that lessons have been learned and implemented from this tragic case to prevent it happening again.”
