I joined Fieldfisher's Court of Protection team as a Solicitor in 2024 and have extensive experience in navigating the complexities of the Court of Protection. I have a passion for advocating on behalf of vulnerable individuals and have dedicated my career to providing legal advice and representation in matters involving mental capacity at what is usually a very difficult time for the client and their family.
I have a detailed understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and of the intricacies that come with making applications to the Court of Protection. This knowledge, coupled with my compassionate approach, ensures I always adhere to the fundamental principal of putting the client's best interest at the heart of all decision making.
For the past few years, I have gained extensive experience in managing the financial affairs of elderly and vulnerable clients and have developed the personal skills required to maintain professionalism whilst also exhibiting a great deal of understanding for the complicated situations that my clients can find themselves in.
My caseload at Fieldfisher involves those clients who have received substantial damages awards as a result of personal injury, predominantly from medical negligence. The work includes:
- Applying to the Court for the appointment of a deputy/deputies to manage the substantial damages that the client receives;
- Managing the purchase and adaptations of properties using the damages awarded;
- Applying to the Court for any additional authority that may be required i.e. to sell property, create a trust, apply for a statutory Will or for any other authority that may be required for that particular case;
- Collaborating with case managers, carers, family members and any other professional that may be involved.
- Managing my own caseload of deputyships and ensuring that clients can live happy and fulfilling lives.
I read American Studies at the University of East Anglia and graduated in 2010 before going onto complete my Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practitioners Course at the University of Law.
I completed the STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients and passed with Distinction. I am an affiliate member of STEP with ambitions to study towards full membership in the near future. I am also a member of the Professional Deputies Forum.
