Relevant members of the Medical Council and the PSI have formed a working group to explore how the two regulators can work together to support the collaboration between doctors and pharmacists in caring for patients.
The working group proposes to examine patient safety matters of mutual concern and particularly focus on safe prescribing and dispensing, and ensuring doctors, pharmacists and members of the public receive clear information on agreed best practice in relation to both professionals.
The establishment of the working group is an example of regulators identifying areas where knowledge-sharing and collaboration can assist in carrying out their roles in protecting the public.
