Personal injury client left paralysed at Westfield's shopping centre part of BBC series

Ms Spence Green, a trainee doctor, suffered a fractured spine that has left her paraplegic and a wheelchair user. She will appear in the BBC series Extraordinary Portraits this evening (24 July) where she is filmed working on the A&E ward at the University Hospital Lewisham. 

Amsumana Sillah Trawally, the man who jumped onto her, was jailed for four years in June at Snaresbrook Crown Court for GBH. He tested positive for cannabis in hospital, and a medical report found it was likely he was under the influence of the drug at the time. He admitted deliberately leaping onto Ms Spence Green after searching for hours for somewhere to jump.

The judge said: You effectively used your body as a weapon to carry out this offence, given that you could have been in no doubt at all that you were very likely to fall on top of one of the people in the crowded area below.’

Ms Spence Green, now a qualified doctor, had been on her way to teach a children's climbing class when Trawally jumped over the barrier.

Keith said that he is directed in an eight-day liability trial against Westfield's in spring 2025 on Ms Spence Green's behalf.

Ms Spence Green told ITV's This Morning that she no longer feels anger towards her assailant and that letting go of her anger has freed her to get on with her life.
