On a July afternoon in Portsmouth and another in London, Fieldfisher with their client Liam* took part in the Relay Your Way event organised by Cerebra.
Cerebra, the charity dedicated to helping children with brain conditions and their families, created the mammoth event which took place over June and July 2025, to champion children with disabilities and to promote the message that sport, adventure and play should be inclusive to all.
The event launched in Glasgow and travelled 2500 km through almost every major city in Britain before finishing at the Parallel Windsor Festival of Inclusivity at Windsor Great Park on July 6th.
Louise Astill from the Medical Negligence team ran the relay baton from Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth to the Solent to pass it onto our client Liam who took charge during the next leg of the race.

Louise helped to create a very special My Way moment, to highlight Liam, one of our fantastic clients to take part in a sailing adventure on the Solent in Portsmouth. Louise teamed up with Cerebra and Wetwheels Foundation Solent, to arrange for Liam and his family to go boating on a barrier free boat, allowing everyone on board to have the chance to take the helm, feel the sea breeze, and experience the thrill of being out on the open water and also to deliver the relay baton onto the next stage.
This scenic journey wasn’t just about the ride — it was about independence, confidence, and the joy of adventure. Liam, who has bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (requiring cochlear implants), autism, speech and motor difficulties, had a fantastic time, he took to helm like a natural and even had the opportunity to sail the boat back into the harbour.
Liam's mum told us afterwards:
"Thanks to all for making it possible. We all had a fabulous day and feel very lucky to have been a part of it. I think a passion for boating may have been unleashed in Liam."

On Thursday 3rd July, the Fieldfisher running team also took part in the Relay My Way event, running the baton in a loop around Tower Hill (5km) and then to London Fields Station (5km) before the baton made its way on to Windsor for the final legs of the relay. It was a brilliant event to be a part of.

Thank you to Cerebra and Wetwheels for helping to organise the My Way Moment and for the PIMN team for sponsoring it. Over 15,000 people took part in the Relay and helped Cerebra to raise over £60,000.
