Professional background

Professional background

I act exclusively on behalf of claimants in complex medical negligence cases, working with clients who have been injured as a result of the negligence of medical practitioners.

I have experience in a wide range of cases including; birth injury and cerebral palsy claims, brain injury claims, claims arising from delayed diagnosis of cancer or other illness, neonatal death and still birth claims.

I have also acted for bereaved families that have lost loved ones as a result of medical negligence and I have experience with psychiatric injury claims arising from traumatic birth and failures arising from the management of individual’s psychiatric care.

I am passionate about providing the best service and support for my clients and their families. I aim to ensure the best possible outcome by comprehensively investigating claims, by guiding clients through the legal process and by securing early provision of support to help them in restoring their lives following life-changing injuries.

Examples of how I have helped clients include assisting in liability and multimillion pound quantum settlements for children who have suffered brain injuries arising around the time of their birth; securing early liability admissions and settlements in delayed diagnosis of cancer claims and representing and supporting bereaved families during inquest proceedings and mediation to help them get the answers and changes in practice they seek.

04.12.2024
Caron Heyes and Louise Astill were instructed to bring a clinical negligence claim on behalf of ZA, born in 2018 at the Defendant’s Northampton General Hospital.  ZA was severely injured during her birth because of delays by the maternity and obstetric team in recognising firstly the significance of reduced fetal movements reported by her mother, and then signs of fetal distress.
