Fieldfisher partners with The Postpartum Plan to offer benefits to new parents

03/05/2022

Locations

United Kingdom

The addition to the Fieldfisher Families benefit package is designed to support parents during their first year after giving birth.

Fieldfisher has partnered with The Postpartum Plan, an online membership plan for mothers, which offers support during the first year postpartum with the help of trained experts in everything from medicine to nutrition, as part of its package of family benefits for Fieldfisher employees.

Available to all UK employees going on family leave, new parents will be offered free access to the plan from 35 weeks into their pregnancy or any time in during the first three months after giving birth. Parents will be able to enjoy the plan for free for six months with the option of continuing beyond that at a subsidised rate.

The plan consists of three components:
  • The Postpartum Plan Dashboard

A personal online dashboard with all the content mothers may need or find useful to help them heal and recover from childbirth and feel supported during early motherhood, through the fourth trimester and beyond.

The resources are provided by a team of professional experts and cover five pillars – mind set, reflection, recovery, movement and nutrition. The content is provided in video and audio format and can be accessed at any time of day, allowing new mothers to get support whenever they need it and go at their own pace.

  • The Postpartum Toolbox

Members will be sent a box of goodies to support recovery and promote self-care. Items include a massage ball, a pilates ball, a journal and recipe cards to help new mothers look after themselves and relax.

  • The Postpartum Village

Members will have access to weekly live online sessions and a Private Facebook Group to meet other like-minded parents.

The content of these sessions, threads and recorded materials is designed to work around new mothers and their babies. They include a nutrition podcast and session on breathing exercises mothers can do while holding and feeding their babies.

The programme is offered as a daily programme that gives parents structure and regular support that will help set them to nurture and care for themselves and their children in the long term.

Fieldfisher is the first law firm to offer its staff access to The Postpartum Plan, which is part of the firm's wider set of initiatives to support colleagues with young families with their wellbeing as part of the Fieldfisher Families package.

The Postpartum Plan was introduced to Fieldfisher by a partner who used the plan after giving birth to her first child and recommended it to the firm as a highly beneficial service that could be offered to new parents.

Fiona Markham, Head of People Development at Fieldfisher and a member of the firm's Fieldfisher Families Working Group, said:

"We are so excited to be able to offer The Postpartum Plan as part of our Fieldfisher Families package of benefits for new parents.

"Having launched this new benefit in March 2022, the initial response over the first two months has been incredible and the plan is proving a very popular add-on to the benefits we already provide to new parents.

"We are constantly working to ensure parents feel supported to care for their families while continuing to progress in their careers with us, and initiatives like this allow us to deliver extra support to staff while they are on parental leave, as well as to those who return to work within a year of giving birth."

About Postpartum

Megan Murray Jones is the Founder of Postpartum Plan. A new initiative that she developed through her reflexology practice when she noticed that the time when women needed support the most was postpartum; yet this was the time that most clients stopped getting the help they required. She was often called on to treat a host of issues including burn out, PTSD, insomnia and serious emotional and physical issues around the six-month postpartum period, and so Postpartum Plan was born and it continues to transform how postpartum recovery is viewed.
