Fieldfisher has appointed Luis Suárez de Lezo as a new partner in its Real Estate practice at the firm’s Madrid office. With more than twelve years’ experience advising on real estate and alternative investment transactions, Luis joins the firm to further strengthen its expertise in complex and multijurisdictional property transactions.
Luis has developed his career at leading international law firms and within the financial sector. He joins from Santander Alternative Investments, where he served as Legal Vice President, playing a key role in the creation of the Santander Group’s new alternative investment fund management company, while also leading the legal advisory work on real estate investment strategies. In recent years, he has been particularly active in the flex-living sector.
Previously, Luis gained extensive experience at Linklaters and Pinsent Masons, where he advised international and domestic funds, developers, financial institutions and family offices on the acquisition, sale, financing, leasing and development of various types of real estate assets — including logistics, residential, retail and hotel properties — across both single-asset and portfolio transactions.
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous international transactions and coordinated multidisciplinary teams across several European jurisdictions.
Upon joining, Luis stated:
“I am delighted to be joining such an exciting project with a strong international growth focus as that offered by Fieldfisher, and to contribute to the expansion of a firm with such outstanding professionals and colleagues. The real estate sector is one of the driving forces of the Spanish economy and a key contributor to its positive performance, and the firm is strongly committed to its continued growth.”
His arrival further reinforces Fieldfisher’s position as a leading firm in advising international funds, developers, financial institutions and family offices in the real estate market, providing a strategic and cross-disciplinary perspective on complex domestic and international transactions.
“Luis combines deep technical expertise with a commercial and pragmatic understanding of the real estate business. His experience in cross-border transactions and his background in alternative investment banking bring significant added value to our practice", said Rodrigo Martos, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Spain.
