ILTA Generative AI Best Practice Guide (Outgoing Disclosure)

Published by the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), the Generative AI Best Practice Guide is a cross-firm collaboration between leading eDisclosure practitioners from UK-based commercial law firms. The Guide offers practical, defensible guidance on how legal teams can responsibly integrate Generative AI (GenAI) technologies into disclosure workflows, particularly under Practice Direction 57AD.

Designed as a supplement to the ILTA Active Learning Best Practices Guide published in 2024, this resource outlines where and how GenAI tools can be used effectively, from summarisation and categorisation to privilege review, whilst maintaining procedural fairness, transparency, and judicial scrutiny. It provides recommended safeguards such as validation techniques, audit trails, and prompt management protocols to ensure quality and defensibility.

The project was co-chaired by Fieldfisher’s Fiona Campbell, who leads the Technology, Innovation & Digital Evidence (TIDE) practice, and the launch was proudly sponsored by Fieldfisher Condor.
