Professional background

I have particular experience advising in the manufacturing and construction sectors.  By way of example, I have advised administrators on a trading administration with the primary aim of rescuing the company as a going concern with a contingency plan to protect the value in the company and protect the client from risk.  I also advised on the implementation of a successful CVA for Dubai owned manufacturing company.  I have written and delivered presentations on insolvency in the construction industry to trade associations and government bodies as well as advising clients on administrations and retention of title claims.  I also have significant experience of advising on matters in the retail, waste management, care and financial services sectors including FCA regulated companies.

A particular specialism within my contentious practice is investigating the period prior to insolvency / bankruptcy with a view to recovering assets for the benefit of creditors including in relation to complex tax schemes, land banking and pay day loan scams.  My approach to litigation is commercial and I have used mediation and without prejudice meetings to achieve early settlements for the benefit of creditors.  However, I also have experience of litigation through to trial and I advise on a wide range of Insolvency Act court applications.

My contentious experience is also useful for the advice I regularly provide to boards of directors on their duties and how to mitigate risk of personal liability when a company is financially distressed.

I am a member and former regional committee member of R3, the UK trade association for restructuring and insolvency professionals.
