My previous experience includes:

Acting in follow-on damages proceedings in the High Court and Competition Appeals Tribunal flowing from the European Commission's Google Shopping decision.

  • Defending a shareholder class action of a former NZX listed company relating to breach of IPO disclosure obligations
  • Acting for the regulator in proceedings against former NZX-listed company and its directors and chief financial officer relating to breaches of IPO disclosure and continuous disclosure obligations
  • Advising complainants in relation to CMA and European Commission investigations into anti-competitive conduct in AdTech markets.

Prior to qualification I worked at the New Zealand Serious Fraud Office, where I assisted in all stages of the investigation and prosecution of complex fraud and financial crime.

First SMS designations issued under the new Digital Markets Regime: Breaking down the CMA's assessment

The Competition and Markets Authority ("CMA") has issued its first formal designations of Strategic Market Status ("SMS") under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 ("DMCC") this month. SMS designations last for five years, during which the CMA will monitor developments and may revise or revoke the designation if market conditions change.
