Professional background

I am a Director in the Medical Negligence team. I am passionate about my work, taking the time to understand exactly what each client needs, how injuries affect their lives and how things can improve.

I have wide experience running a range of cases involving birth injury, brain injury and spinal cord injury.

My current cases include:

  • Representing throughout inquest the family of a baby who died during routine surgery for the repair of an inguinal hernia.
  • Achieving a multi-million pound settlement for a young woman who suffered devastating neurological injury following surgery for scoliosis.
  • Representing a mother who was not told that her baby would be born with Down's syndrome, despite positive antenatal testing.
  • Acting for a client who suffered a hypoxic brain injury as a result of a malfunctioning naso-gastric tube.

I have developed a sub-speciality representing the families of babies with late diagnosis of hip dysplasia and am currently running more than 20 such cases. Because of this, I work closely with the Charity STEPS, providing training for their helpline staff and talking to beneficiaries who want to consider bringing a claim.
You can view my page on STEPS website here.

I was quoted in the local and national press regarding my case involving the death of a baby at the Evelina London children’s hospital.

I am involved in Fieldfisher's pro bono activities, including working closely with MENCAP, the Prisoners' Advice Service, St Mungo's and Save the Rhino. Colleagues and I successfully appealed against a local authority decision to cut care of an adult with significant additional needs.

Client
Will at Fieldfisher took on our medical negligence case on behalf of our young son. It was complicated and it ended up at Crown Court. Throughout the years of working towards a favourable outcome, Will was (and still is) supportive and an excellent communicator. He explained thoroughly every step of the process including timelines, possible outcomes and financial matters. Will made a process that was potentially stressful and triggering, as smooth as possible and made us feel like we were part of the team, although we had no legal knowledge whatsoever. I recommend Will and Fieldfisher very highly and appreciate their professionalism, attention to detail and skill in communicating to lay people a complicated case. Thanks to their efforts my son has the funds in place for any future medical needs.
