Plastic bag charge enables retailers to donate over £200 million to good causes
Retailers donated £10 million to various causes in 2021/22. The charge started as 5p in 2015 and was raised to 10p last year.

Compliance case involving an animal welfare charity concluded
The Charity Commission opened a regulatory compliance case in August 2021, following media reports surrounding Nowzad's efforts to evacuate people and animals from Afghanistan. The case examined whether Nowzad's actions, and Operation Ark, were within the charity's purposes and complied with charity law. Read more.
