The Charity Commission have updated their guidance to lay out their approach to AGMs and annual return filing extensions. They have also updated their content on charity meetings and insolvency help for charitable companies and charitable incorporated organisations.

The values focused on in the guidance are: legal, open, honest and respectful. They have released guidance for fundraisers and advice for the public.

Final £300 million of the Culture Recovery fund to be released
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has announced that the final £300 million of the £2 billion Culture Recovery Fund is to go to organisations in urgent need of funding. Applications are due to open for some parts of this funding shortly.

Charity Commission issues a formal regulatory alert to overseas aid charities
The Regulator is urging that more needs to be done to prevent the exploitation and abuse of those in receipt of aid. These measures have been released after recent serious incident reports identified areas of weakness or risk in safeguarding at international aid charities.

Survey finds that charities do not expect a "bounce back" as lockdown lifts
A survey conducted by Pro Bono Economics, the Charity Finance Group and the Chartered Institute of Fundraising finds that 54% of charities do not expect to be back to pre-pandemic levels of fundraising by the end of 2021. 7 in 10 charities also expect Covid-19 to have a negative effect on their ability to deliver their charitable objectives over the next 12 months.

UK drops out of the top 10 most generous countries for the first time
The Charities Aid Foundation's World Giving Index is a global survey which asks people: have they helped a stranger, given money, or volunteered for a good cause in the past month? The UK usually frequents the top 10 but 2020 saw it drop from 7th to 22nd place.
