Canadell has specialised in public law and administrative litigation for more than 25 years, having spent most of her career at the firm Roca Junyent, and before that at the firm Soria Sabaté Abogados Asociados.
She has defended private companies and public bodies in administrative and contentious cases related to urban development law, expropriation, funeral services, waste management, penalisation and disciplinary proceedings, financial liability, ports and coasts, mines, water, transport, the environment, operating or business permits, the Seveso Directive, tourism, hotels and business, catering and industrial premises.
On joining Fieldfisher, Inés says her ambition is: “To help investment funds and Spanish businesses to generate value based on three cornerstones: town planning and the development of available land; regularisation of licences and lawsuits, and boosting and consolidating the growth of Fieldfisher’s administrative legal department, in close cooperation with the firm’s national and international network.”
Fieldfisher’s new partner is the Coordinator of the Master’s Legal Practice degree course at the Universidad Internacional de Cataluña. She is also professor and lecturer at the Universidad Internacional de Cataluña, Universidad de Gerona, Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona, the Provincial Government of Barcelona, and at the Asociación de municipios y comarcas, among other places.
Managing partner of Fieldfisher Spain, Jordi Ruiz de Villa , said: “Public Law has an enormous impact on the economy and we have decided to attract a highly specialised team that is able to provide defence in cases with a high value, on a par with the best Spanish law firms. Inés is a valuable part of our growth strategy because she has experience in complex cases, as well as great technical expertise and leadership skills.”
Canadell joins an expanding team, which will end the year with a record turnover. Ruiz de Villa said: “In 2023, we hope to continue with a growth rate in excess of 20%, not only by means of the appointment of partners in fields where we still do not have expert talent, but also by strengthening strategic areas that will enable us to provide value to our clients, which are of an ever-increasing size.”
