My main areas of practice
The focus of my practice is on advising and representing companies in patent infringement cases. My clients include small and medium-sized enterprises as well as global corporations from the pharmaceutical, medical technology, telecommunications, consumer electronics, mechanical engineering and other industries.
I have particular experience in assisting and coordinating cross-border disputes, both in the strategic preparation and implementation of patent enforcement measures and in defending against such attacks. I am therefore familiar with the basic features of the essential legal and other frameworks for patent infringement proceedings in more than a dozen countries.
I have also gained experience in patent and licensing arbitration proceedings, both as party representative and as arbitrator.
I have particular experience in the area of disputes concerning standard-essential patents. In more than 50 cases, I have advised patent owners and defendant companies on the specific patent, procedural and antitrust aspects of such disputes, in particular on the factual and legal circumstances giving rise to a possible compulsory licence defence (FRAND defence).
I advise my clients in German, English and Spanish.

Publications
I have published on various aspects of Patent Law and regularly lecture at home and abroad.
Currently, I am particularly active as co-editor of a publication on global aspects in SEP/FRAND cases by the organisation The Sedona Conference and as a speaker at the Euroforum seminar on R&D contracts.

I am a member of the associations for industrial property protection GRUR, VPP and LES.
My background
Prior to joining Fieldfisher, I worked in law firms of various sizes and with different international orientations.
