Clients come from all sectors including financial services, consumer platforms, life sciences and MedTech. I have a particular focus on cloud computing, the “internet of things”, and big data.
My data protection expertise includes international compliance projects (such as binding corporate rules and governance generally), privacy impact assessments, data breach response and disputes around subject access. I enjoy working closely with clients to devise pragmatic solutions to their compliance needs, often international in scope.
Prior to becoming a solicitor, I worked for five years as a software engineer at Logica (now CGI), a major independent UK software house, where I was engaged in designing, programming and testing complex software applications (primarily in an UNIX/C environment).
I hold the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) and Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) statuses of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). I am on the IAPP's faculty teaching towards the CIPP/E qualification.
I have written a book on the law of cloud computing: Cloud Computing: A Practical Introduction to the Legal Issues.
