European law firm Fieldfisher is significantly expanding its global capabilities in artificial intelligence with the appointment of Doron Faibish as Director of AI. Based at Fieldfisher X in Berlin, Faibish will lead a newly established team responsible for executing the firm’s global AI strategy, developed by the AI Board under the leadership of Dr Jan Wildhirth. With this move, Fieldfisher X will become the central hub for AI innovation across the firm’s international network.
Launched in 2022, Fieldfisher X is a specialised unit focused on legal tech and operations, originally established to serve Germany’s fast-evolving mass litigation market. Since then, it has grown into a multidisciplinary team that supports clients with a wide range of complex legal challenges by delivering tactical planning, legal analysis, data and process management, efficient case handling and strategic communication.
Building on Fieldfisher X’s existing AI initiatives, the formation of a dedicated AI team in Berlin marks a significant step forward. The team will be responsible for developing innovative legal products, managing pilot projects, and delivering AI-driven solutions across the firm’s international offices.
Doron Faibish brings over 15 years of international experience at the intersection of law, technology, and business operations. His career includes roles as General Counsel at listed tech companies, Vice President of Business Development at a biotech start-up, founder of his own Berlin-based company, and Head of Global Legal Operations at Klarna. There, he led digital transformation initiatives, built large specialist teams, and successfully implemented numerous AI solutions. His unique blend of legal expertise and digital innovation makes him ideally suited to lead Fieldfisher’s AI efforts.
This strategic shift marks the next phase in Fieldfisher's technology journey and is underpinned by the firm's significant investment in education and capability-building. The firm has already launched internal AI training programmes to upskill teams across all functions, supported by the AI Navigator scheme — a structured initiative designed to help every team member confidently adopt and apply AI in their daily work.
The firm’s AI strategy is built on three core pillars:
- Distributed incremental innovation: Enhancing core legal services through targeted AI integration.
- Centrally driven, disruptive innovation: Developing new AI-powered legal products and services.
- Business Services optimisation: Improving internal efficiency across the international network through AI, with a focus on innovative legal tools that empower employees and deliver first-class client service.
Fieldfisher’s ALSs, including Fieldfisher X and Condor, are already leveraging AI to enhance service delivery. With Doron Faibish’s appointment, the firm is poised to elevate its AI capabilities even further.
