Professional background

I work and advise on a wide variety of construction projects, including energy, infrastructure, PFI, healthcare and facilities management. I have strong knowledge of both standard and bespoke construction contracts and have been seconded to a leading construction company in the UK which allowed me to understand and appreciate the business workings and priorities of construction clients.

I have also worked on a number of disputes resulting in successful outcomes for my clients, including a dispute relating to defects at a football stadium and another relating to delay on an infrastructure project.

In particular, I specialise in energy and renewables, having previously trained and worked within a leading renewable energy investment and development company. I have assisted in the development and completion of a number of renewable energy projects, including over 310MW of solar PV assets and 50MW of battery storage and have successfully advised clients on a variety of disputes arising from renewable energy projects, such as the exercise of the performance regime and defects in construction and equipment.

Here, Fieldfisher Senior Associates Sarah Shafiq and Alex Delin explain what happened.
