Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices launches the AI tool MeQA
The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) has launched the AI tool MeQA. The aim of this tool is to make technical information on medicines available to the general public through the formulation of queries, using an accessible language.
In this way, MeQA improves access to accurate and quality health information for users about the medicines they take.
Procedure for the implementation of the exceptional prescription of veterinary medicinal products from other EU member states
The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) has developed together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) a procedure to facilitate the implementation of the exceptional prescription or “cascade prescription” of veterinary medicinal products from other EU member states. This procedure is intended to facilitate the practical application of cascade prescribing, as currently in practice various problems arise that have led to excessive use of prescription of medicinal products for human use.
To this end, the AEMPS and MAPA have prepared a document with the aim of establishing a simple and feasible procedure that will make veterinary medicinal products authorized in other EU Member States available in a timely manner.
European Commission opens the deadline to submit contributions for the new European Biotech Act
Last week the European Commission opened the call for evidence for an impact assessment of the new European Biotech Act. To this end, the European Commission has published an information document addressed to the public and stakeholders on the intended initiative.
The proposed Biotech Act aims to improve the competitiveness of the EU biotechnology sector and boost production, while maintaining high levels of safety.
