Professional background

I advise on all aspects of employment law, including contentious and non-contentious matters.

One of my key practice areas is technology. Being the UK employment lead with the Firm's Silicon Valley office, I have a focus on inward investment work, often working with tech clients in Silicon Valley and across the US, as well as clients who have US funding. My experience in this area includes advising companies on setting up in the UK, growth projects, remote and overseas working and business protection issues.

As well as advising on day-to-day employee relations matters, I have experience advising businesses on employee projects including redundancy exercises (individual and collective), restructures and changes to terms and conditions. I also have extensive experience advising on the employment law aspects of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on share acquisitions and private equity deals, including leading on due diligence exercises and assisting with transaction documentation.

Since early qualification, I have worked in an international environment, and have experience working on a both small and large scale cross-border matters

My contentious experience includes acting for employers in Employment Tribunal claims, ranging from basic unfair dismissal to more complex multi-claimant TUPE claims. I also have experience dealing with complex whistleblowing claims involving individual directors in addition to employer respondents.

I am a key member of the firm's whistleblowing team, and have experience advising legal, HR and compliance teams on how to ensure they are complying with whistleblowing laws, as well as supporting them with whistleblowing documentation. I regularly work with the firm's European offices, advising businsess on their international approach to whistleblowing.

In addition to my day to day work, I enjoy providing bespoke client training on a range of topics including investigations, sexual harassment, and whistleblowing. I also enjoy speaking at events and on podcasts, and hosting webinars on hot topics in employment law.

I was shortlisted for the Solicitor of the Year Award at the 2021 Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards, recognising my commitment to the profession.
