Professional background

Professional background

I am commercial disputes lawyer specialising in complex litigation and arbitration, including commercial disputes which interface with regulatory and public law issues.

My practice includes supply chain disputes, warranty claims, heavy engineering, infrastructure and energy, fraud, commercial agency and distribution, competition litigation and public procurement.

I have more than 15 years' experience resolving international and domestic commercial disputes.  I am particularly active for clients operating in the food & beverage, advanced manufacturing, energy, heavy engineering and entertainment sectors.

Although I am recognised as an experienced and successful trial lawyer, clients also come to me for my strategic, results-focused approach which always looks for the most pragmatic and commercial solution at the earliest stage.

My recent representative matters include:

  • Representing a Central Asian client in international arbitration proceedings in the oil and gas sector
  • Acting for a technology PLC on its public procurement claim against a central government department
  • Advising multiple defendants in a complex shareholder dispute and unfair prejudice claim
  • Representing an aircraft leasing company in its US$600m 'Operator Policy' claim
  • Advising one of the world's leading entertainment companies on a multi-million pound professional negligence claim
  • Defending a competition litigation claim on behalf of a US manufacturer

Network Rail loses appeal against Competition Appeal Tribunal ruling

05.03.2020
A Court of Appeal judgment today has confirmed that Network Rail's policies related to how it controls access to rail infrastructure are in breach of competition law.  Network Rail had appealed a Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) ruling from July 2019 where Achilles Information Limited ("Achilles") won its claim challenging the way in which Network Rail controlled access to rail infrastructure and effectively prevented Achilles providing its supplier assurance services to the rail sector.
