Professional background

I advise my clients on all aspects of EU and German competition law, including cartel investigations of the German Bundeskartellamt and the European Commission, leniency applications, abuse of dominance cases, private cartel damage claims, vertical and horizontal co-operations (including distribution, licensing and R&D agreements), as well as on German, EC and multijurisdictional merger control. Further to this I advise on the design and implementation of compliance programmes and represent clients before German and European courts.
 
I am a regular speaker at seminars and conferences and have published numerous articles on German and European competition law. I am co-author of a leading German commentary on German and European competition law (Langen/Bunte).
 
I am recognized by JUVE, Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, Who’s who Legal Germany, GCR International Who is Who of Competition Lawyers as well as “Best Lawyers/Handelsblatt”. I am a member of the German Association of Competition Law and of the Steering Committee of the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Law.

Federal Cartel Office gives green light for sustainability initiative in the plant trade

The German Federal Cartel Office (FCO) has no serious objections to the introduction of a reusable tray-system in the plant trade. Euro Plant Tray eG – a co-operative association of various companies in the European plant trade, plant production and industry associations – had asked the FCO for an legal assessment of a planned joint reusable tray-system. The antitrust authority has now given the green light for the sustainability initiative.

Bathroom fittings cartel: Ex members of BoD are not liable for company's cartel fines

In two decisions the Regional Court of Saarbrücken (Landgericht Saarbrücken) has rejected the lia-bility of management bodies for cartel fines imposed on the company (7 HK O 6/16 and 7 HK O 21/19 - not yet published). The bathroom equipment manufacturer Villeroy & Boch claimed dam-ages from four ex members of the company's management board with regard to a fine imposed by the Commission for the claimant's participation in the bathrooms fittings cartel (2010) as well as legal fees.
